As part of the KAUST Core Labs and Research Infrastructure’s educational mandate, our expert staff members run training modules for our users on all equipment suitable for independent use.
As independent use broadens awareness of processes and facilitates ownership of method and data acquisition, we encourage all of our users to work independently when possible. Our staff will always be on hand to offer ongoing support and advice when needed.
Training modules, which are run bi-annually, are open to the KAUST academic community and our external users who have a service agreement with KAUST.
To be eligible for training, all applicants must first be registered on Infinity, our central booking system. For more information about Infinity, please contact CLhelpdesk@kaust.edu.sa

Training requestAs part of KAUST’s focus on education in a user-centric research facility, the Core Labs provide instrument training to lab users. After qualification, users are allowed to operate instruments independently for their research activities.
For training inquiries please contact the lab directly. We provide training and support so our users can independently utilize our facilities and equipment wherever possible. To enable independent use, we provide regular training during the academic year. Training events cover all of the techniques available in the lab, including: electron microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, surface analysis, optical microscopy, and physical characterization.
The lab also organizes workshops focusing on different technical areas. These events are open to the entire KAUST academic community, KAUST industrial partners, and Saudi academic institutions.
Lab users are required to have all the necessary training to gain access to our facilities and equipment. All lab users must pass the required lab safety classes, and the training for specific tools that they will use before they can independently operate in our facilities.
Users must be trained to independently operate instruments, equipment, and tools in the lab. Please refer to the schedule below for upcoming trainings, and email us to register.
The Nanofabrication Core Lab provides regular equipment training during the academic year. Users are eligible to enter the cleanroom for instrument training upon completion of the safety training conducted by cleanroom staff. These sessions are open to the KAUST research community, collaborators, and industrial partners, and cover various process and metrology instruments.
