Shaheen II ranks fifteenth in the world of supercomputers

18 months after debut, Shaheen II is still the top supercomputer in the Middle East

Shaheen II is the fifteenth fastest supercomputer in the world according to the TOP500 list announced on November 14 at the Supercomputing Conference in Salt Lake City, USA. Shaheen II is a 36-cabinet Cray XC 40 system, delivering a theoretical peak performance of 7.2 PF and Linpack performance of 5.5 PF. It debuted as top seven system in the world in June 2015 and remains the number one supercomputer in the Middle East.

 

The number one system is Sunway TaihuLight of China with the theoretical peak performance of 125 PF and Linpack performance of 93 PF.
