In line with the Keeping KAUST Safe guidelines on practicing physical distancing, the KAUST Core Labs will not provide in-person training during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please contact the relevant lab for further information.
As part of the KAUST Core Labs and Research Infrastructure’s educational mandate, our expert staff members run training modules for our users on all equipment suitable for independent use.
As independent use broadens awareness of processes and facilitates ownership of method and data acquisition, we encourage all of our users to work independently when possible. Our staff will always be on hand to offer ongoing support and advice when needed.
Training modules, which are run bi-annually, are open to the KAUST academic community and our external users who have a service agreement with KAUST.
The ACL lab provides theoretical and hands-on training to enable independent use.
Please find below our semi-annual training schedule for 2019. Training is offered to all KAUST students, staff, and external collaborators.
Successful completion of the appropriate training is a prerequisite for usage on all ACL equipment available for independent use. This schedule itemizes the dates and duration of each session, as well as the maximum number of attendees allowed. Potential attendees must email their training requests to the addresses listed on the schedule and will be admitted on a first come, first served basis. No training will be given without email confirmation. All questions related to these training sessions can be directed to the same email addresses.Training schedule
As part of KAUST’s focus on education in a user-centric research facility, the Core Labs provide instrument training to lab users. After qualification, users are allowed to operate instruments independently for their research activities.
We provide training and support so our users can independently utilize our facilities and equipment wherever possible. To enable independent use, we provide regular training during the academic year. Training events cover all of the techniques available in the lab, including: electron microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, surface analysis, optical microscopy, and physical characterization.
The lab also organizes workshops focusing on different technical areas. These events are open to the entire KAUST academic community, KAUST industrial partners, and Saudi academic institutions.
Lab users are required to have all the necessary training to gain access to our facilities and equipment. All lab users must pass the required lab safety classes, and the training for specific tools that they will use before they can independently operate in our facilities.
Users must be trained to independently operate instruments, equipment, and tools in the lab. Please refer to the schedule below for upcoming trainings, and email us to register.
The Nanofabrication Core Lab provides regular equipment training during the academic year. Users are eligible to enter the cleanroom for instrument training upon completion of the safety training conducted by cleanroom staff. These sessions are open to the KAUST research community, collaborators, and industrial partners, and cover various process and metrology instruments.
Please refer to the schedules below for upcoming training sessions, and email us to register.
The Visualization Core Lab provides regular training and hands-on workshops during the academic year. Topics include Scientific Visualization, Distributed Data Visualization, In-situ Data Analysis, and Visualization in Virtual Reality Environments. These workshops are open to the entire KAUST academic community.
