CMR Becomes the First AMI Accredited Clean & Resilient Marina in the Middle East

KAUST’s Coastal and Marine Resources (CMR) Core Lab has earned the Association of Marina Industries (AMI) Accredited Clean & Resilient Marina (CRM) accreditation, becoming the first marina in the Middle East to achieve this internationally recognized standard.

The Association of Marina Industries (AMI) is the leading global body setting professional, environmental, and operational standards for marinas and waterfront facilities.

The accreditation confirms that CMR operates its pier and jetty according to rigorous environmental best practices, with no compromises on pollution prevention, safety, or operational integrity. It also recognizes CMR’s strong preparedness to manage disruptions, supported by robust emergency response, resilience, and business continuity measures.

This milestone reflects a sustained, day-to-day commitment to discipline, consistency, and a “no shortcuts” mindset in the management and maintenance of the pier, jetty, and fleet, enabled by close collaboration across the wider CMR team.

Beyond the certification itself, this achievement delivers tangible strategic value. It strengthens trust with users and partners, reinforces confidence with regulators, and supports CMR’s broader commercialization journey by positioning the Core Lab as a preferred marine services hub in the Red Sea.

CMR is now officially listed among AMI’s accredited marinas worldwide, alongside leading facilities that meet globally recognized standards for environmental stewardship and operational resilience. This milestone is a moment to recognize the collective effort behind the result and to reaffirm the standard going forward.

This accomplishment builds on recent recognition of the Core Lab’s strong performance in safety, following receipt of prestigious international awards for health, safety, and fleet management - underscoring CMR’s commitment to excellence across both safety and sustainable operations.
