In a recent KAUST Core Labs Impact Project, Imaging and Characterization Core Lab Senior Scientist Sergei Lopatin developed a new high-resolution technique for electron energy loss spectroscopy for electron microscopes, enabling KAUST researchers to discover more about the electronic properties of new materials. KAUST faculty members working in materials science used the technique—among other things—to further understand MXene nanomaterials, and KAUST Solar Center researchers are using it to mix materials to achieve multicomponent organic solar cells.
