Advanced design and manufacturing helping support the ambitions or our users
At the Central Workshops Core Lab we provide advanced design, prototyping, and manufacturing services for our KAUST professors, students, entrepreneurs, and industrial partners. The facility extends over 45,000 sqft with 30 dedicated staff specializing in engineering, design, advanced machining, scientific glass blowing, electronics, metrology, welding, and woodworking.
Experience a typical day in the Core Labs — the next generation of research facilities. Our scientists support interdisciplinary research at KAUST and beyond.
Both static & dynamic designs for a wide range of applications ranging from sub-sea exploration to high-temperature high-pressure engine test platforms. The engineering team utilizes a variety of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) design and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and reverse engineering tools to provide complex and sophisticated designs.
Advanced capabilities for the production and manufacture of equipment for research apparatus and production prototypes. Utilizing state-of-the-art CNC milling and lathe machines, laser cutters, water jets, wire EDM, and other manufacturing technologies.
Advanced glassblowing facility recently upgraded with state-of-the-art technology for high-end glass-blowing. This facility with its specialized equipment and staff provides services for the design, fabrication, and modification of scientific glassware products and equipment. This facility aims to meet the continuing demand for scientific glass products from KAUST and the region
Our team of electronics engineers design and manufacture custom electronic systems and components for motion control, smart labs, and data acquisition systems. Utilizing various test equipment, electronic design and development tools, PCB prototyping equipment, wire bonding, and an extensive library of electronic components.
