The Workshops provide advanced design, equipment and manufacturing to assist in the fabrication of customized experimental tools and equipment for KAUST users and industrial partners. The facility features workshops and staff specializing in engineering and design utilizing CAD software, advanced machine shop technology, scientific glass blowing, welding, woodworking, electronics and metrology.
The Workshops features facilities and staff specializing in machining, woodworking, welding, scientific glassblowing, electronics, and metrology. These workshops produce a wide range of components from precision parts to large fabricated assemblies, many of which operate in a variety of hostile environments, cryogenic temperatures and high vacuums.
The Design and Fabrication Core Lab has published its

The machine shop specializes in the production and manufacture of prototype equipment used for research and teaching.
The welding facilities provide a variety of welding techniques to enable fabrication, erection and maintenance of many different components.
The glassblowing facility is focused on design, fabrication and modification of all types of scientific glassware to meet the needs of individual researchers. It is also used for repair or adaptation of existing glassware for specific needs.
The woodworking facility enables custom fabrication and repair using advanced woodworking tools.
The electronics facility specializes in the custom design and manufacturing of electronics systems ranging from prototyping to small production series.
