We provide training and hands-on workshops during the academic year. These include equipment-specific training upon request and a regularly scheduled lab safety orientation. The lab safety orientation is held Mondays at 10am and Wednesdays at 3:30pm in building 26.
Qualified users can use the majority of our facilities and equipment with minimal support from our staff. Independent users must be qualified and trained to access and operate the relevant resources. For safety reasons, especially work at sea, some equipment requires lab staff assistance or oversight.
The Coastal and Marine Resources Core Lab is staffed with scientists and engineers with experience in many disciplines of marine science. Our lab and field staff work together with users to jointly achieve their research objectives.
We strive to provide training and support so our users can independently utilize our facilities and services. However, many of our services require extensive training and experience. In those cases, we are available to discuss projects where Core Lab staff will perform the work on your behalf. Get in touch with us if you require this mode of operation for your research.
The Coastal and Marine Resources Core Lab is located in buildings 25 - 28
